Summary

Every mod, plugin, and add-on built with Orca ships under this license. A copy is bundled inside the jar itself, as a LICENSE_<creationId> file at the jar root, and the mod's metadata points here (ARR - orcaclient.com/mod-license).

  • The person who made the mod owns it.
  • Anyone can play with it and host it on a server, for free.
  • Every copy that gets passed around must keep the license file, the "Made with Orca Client" credit, and the backlink.
  • Nobody can sell it or put it behind a paywall.
Publishing your mod on Modrinth or CurseForge? Pick the Custom license option, name it Orca Client Mods License v1.0, and set the license URL to https://orcaclient.com/mod-license. Don't pick MIT or another open-source license: those grant resale and license-stripping rights this license does not.

Ownership

The user who generated the mod owns the creative work. Orca claims no ownership of what you create, same as our Terms of Service say. Orca administers redistribution of the mod under this license, so the free-use and no-selling rules below travel with every copy.

What you can do

  • Personal use. Play with the mod in your own game, free.
  • Host it on a public server. Run the mod on any server, free, as long as every distribution keeps the three attribution elements below.
  • Share it. Include it in modpacks and pass it to friends, as long as every copy keeps the three attribution elements below and stays free.

Attribution requirements

Every distribution of the mod, or of a pack containing it, must preserve all three of these:

  • The LICENSE_<creationId> file inside the jar, unmodified.
  • "Made with Orca Client" attribution wherever credits are listed.
  • A visible backlink to https://orcaclient.com/mod/<creationId>, where <creationId> is the id stamped into that mod.

What you can't do

  • Sell it. No selling the mod, and no including it in paid packs, premium server access, paywalled servers, access-gated features, or any other paid arrangement. Mods created with Orca are always free.
  • Strip the credits. No removing, altering, or stripping the license file, the attribution, or the backlink from any redistribution.
  • Repackage it bare. No repackaging or redistributing the mod outside of Orca's platform without preserving all three attribution elements above.

Full license text

This is the exact text bundled inside every jar. <creationId> and <userHandle> are filled in per mod at build time.
