Hosting a Minecraft server

Orca runs your Minecraft server for you. You pick a type, a Minecraft version, a region, and a name, choose a world or a seed, and the server is live in about 30 seconds. Every account gets a free 1 GB server, and you can rent more RAM by the gigabyte when your world fills up. From the dashboard you control power, watch the live console, manage files, swap worlds, moderate players, and invite a team to help run it.

This page covers everything on the hosting dashboard. To spin up your first server, head to hosting. For the full RAM ladder and what comes with each plan, see pricing.

Create a server

Creating a server is a short form. You choose the server type, the version, where it runs, and what world it starts with, then Orca builds and boots it for you. It is live in about 30 seconds.

  • Type: Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Bukkit, Folia, Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge.
  • Version: pick the Minecraft version you want to run.
  • Region: choose a location near your players for lower ping.
  • Name: give the server a name you will recognize on the dashboard.
  • World: start fresh, type a seed, upload a world .zip, or pick a ready-made world.

RAM and your free server

Everyone gets one free 1 GB server, no card needed. A 1 GB box is enough for a small Vanilla or Paper world with a handful of friends. When you need room for more players, bigger worlds, or heavy modpacks, rent more RAM by the gigabyte from the dashboard.

  • 2 GB for $4.99 / month
  • 4 GB for $8.99 / month
  • 8 GB for $17.99 / month
  • 16 GB for $34.99 / month

Power, console, and files

You run the server from a control panel that stays open while it runs. Start, stop, and restart from the power controls. Stopping a server keeps the world safe, so you can shut it down to save resources and bring it back later with everything intact.

The live console streams the server log as it happens and lets you type commands straight into it. The in-browser file manager lets you open, edit, upload, and remove server files without any extra software.

  • Power controls: start, stop, and restart. Stop preserves the world.
  • Live console plus logs: watch output in real time and run commands.
  • File manager: browse and edit server files in the browser.
  • Live stats: see how the server is performing while it runs.

Worlds, players, and team

World tools let you swap the map whenever you want. Upload or restore a world .zip, or drop in a ready-made world to get going fast. Player moderation gives you the controls a server owner needs, and you can bring in other people to help run the place.

Set a visibility level so the right people can find your server, and let idle-sleep park it when nobody is on. The server wakes again when a player joins.

  • World tools: upload or restore a world .zip, or pick a ready-made world.
  • Player moderation: whitelist, op and deop, kick, and ban.
  • Team co-management: invite people by handle or email as admin or member.
  • Visibility: set the server public, unlisted, or private.
  • Idle-sleep and wake: the server sleeps when empty and wakes on join.
